We always like to promote a worthy local cause here at Richmond Taxis and we wanted to give a shout-out to three South Shields women who are planning to raise some money for the Macmillan fundraiser on Saturday, 30th November.

Linda Gordon and Julie Cunningham set up the Macmillan fundraising group in South Shields after both lost their husbands to cancer within two years of each other.

The duo are now raising the bar with their latest and most daring challenge, stripping down to their underwear on stage. They’ll be joined by Angela Davies, daughter Lana Davies, Tracey Newham, Karen Donnelly,, Heather Watt, Karen Sparkes, Jean Cook and daughter Elishia Cook.

Co-founder Linda said: “It’s also about raising awareness, having a bit of fun and just saying ‘this is us’. Although there’s a couple of younger girls doing it, primarily it’s older women saying ‘this is us, we’re not ashamed of ourselves’.”

They’ve already managed to sell 300 tickets for the event and the event is now sold out.
